Demand surges for Victoria Point after lockdown eases as buyers focus on open space
Jul 2020
Demand for open outdoor space, which surged during lockdown, is driving a flurry of interest at Victoria Point, the 216 apartment luxury complex nearing completion at Ashford in Kent.
The decision by developers Elevate Property Group, from the early stages of design, to include a very special landscaped south-facing garden is paying off.
Professional garden designers were briefed to produce a compelling, peaceful area including restful breakout areas, whether for work or relaxation, to include a boules court and exercise areas, and incorporate bespoke garden furniture into the gardens which extend over to half an acre.
Elevate sales and marketing director David Hofton said: “The intention was always to have a garden that the development would wrap around, with access via sliding doors from Victoria Point’s ‘super lounge’ facility.
“The constraints of lockdown in the early days made us all appreciate just how special outside space is and how many of us have taken it for granted all our lives.
“The beautiful weather during lockdown prompted Elevate to consider how we could make the most of this area, which not only faces due south but also has delightful views over the Great Stour river and access to Victoria Park.
“The super lounge provides work and rest areas for all residents and the redesigned garden area will be a natural extension of this open space during fine weather.
“Most of the apartments have balconies with great views, and our upgraded garden will offer all apartment owners access to the shared private grounds they can enjoy.”
He added that interest in Victoria Point is also being driven by the news that planners have given the go-ahead for a £250 million film studio complex which could create more than 2,000 full time jobs. The studios, with Netflix and Amazon already showing interest in the facilities, will be located on the disused Newtown rail works close to the Designer Outlet.
The garden at Victoria Point is scheduled for completion in August and Elevate will be shortly be announcing the date of an exclusive open evening to unveil the garden and the completion of the development to buyers, investors, property agents and members of the local business community.
Elevate sales and marketing director David Hofton said: “Lockdown and the weeks of sunshine brought home to all of us the value of a lovely space in which to sit and relax or work, as the mood takes you.”
Demand for the 216 luxury apartments has surged since the easing of lockdown when viewings were once again permitted under social distancing and appropriate safety measures.
The development is now over 60% sold, with all of Phase 1 reserved and a flurry of activity in the weeks since lockdown restrictions were eased for estate agents. Two of the three retail/commercial units on the first phase of 16 apartments have now been let to a convenience store and a local chartered surveyors’ practice.
Victoria Point offers a range of studios, one, two and three bedroom apartments with prices currently ranging from £142,500 to £355,000. Buyers will have the benefit of a concierge service, a superb residents’ lounge, extensive landscaped gardens and parking.
The two show apartments have been moved into the Phase II of 200 apartments, and appointments for viewings under social distancing rules and required health and safety measures are being taken by agents Savills.
David Hofton said: “The show apartments really do showcase the features and exceptional specification of Victoria Point and are precisely why this development is proving so popular with buyers, both in this area of Kent and with commuters looking for relaxed living one hour from London.
“Victoria Point is just 36 minutes from London’s St Pancras International Station by rail, and it also connects via HS1 to Lille in under an hour, Brussels in 1 hour 39 minutes and Paris and Brussels in under two hours via the high speed Eurostar services.”
Time to London stations ranges from 29 minutes to Stratford International to 60 minutes to Waterloo.
