First time buyer flats ‘flying out the door’

A Birmingham development of 64 affordable apartments is now over 40% sold just four weeks after the official release to the public.

Sheldon Court, Elevate Property Group’s development of affordable studios, one and bedroom apartments, is proving a stunning success both with investors and especially with first-time buyers.

Prices start at just £130,000 at Sheldon Court which comprises of 54 one-bedroom apartments, with six two-bedroom apartments and four studio apartments.

The development will be officially launched with the opening of the show home and marketing suite on Saturday 17 October and appointment slots on the day are already filling fast.

Christiani Plati, new homes sales manager of selling agents Centrick, said: “There has been tremendous interest, particularly in the one-bedroom apartments, from first-time buyers.

“They are recognising that by buying at Sheldon Court, they could potentially be paying significantly less each month on a mortgage for a home they own, rather than the equivalent rent.

“Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, we have a set number of appointments on each day as we need to adhere to social distancing protocols.

“We are urging those who are interested to call soon, and we will book them in on the earliest date available that is convenient to them.”

David Hofton, sales and marketing director of Elevate Property Group, said the response had more than justified the decision to launch Sheldon Court now.

“First time buyers are keen to get their feet on the first rung of the housing ladder, and with Help to Buy available, the current Stamp Duty holiday and historically low-interest rates, there has never been a better time.”

And Elevate Property Group is offering potential first-time buyers access to advice on obtaining their mortgage, conveyancing, how to apply for Help to Buy and on the timescales involved to ensure they are in a position to proceed and don’t miss out.

“As the reaction to Sheldon Court is already showing, there is a huge demand for affordable apartments built to Elevate Property Group’s exacting standards.”

Birmingham construction company Mossvale is the main contractor on the building programme which is scheduled to complete by the end of January 2021 with the first buyers moving in February.

The apartments will also have 60 parking spaces, six of which will provide electric charging points for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Sheldon Court is located just off the A45 arterial route which leads from the M42, Birmingham Airport and NEC area, into Birmingham city centre, with good public transport in both directions.

David Hofton added: “As we discovered during the lockdown, outside space is important for both your physical and mental health and we are fortunate to have the 300 acres Sheldon Country Park and Hatchbrook Leisure Centre close to Sheldon Court, perfect for those seeking room to roam and exercise.”
